Two people facing each other
Build
Grow
Thrive

We hire builders.
Every seat must be earned.

Talent density is everything at Engine. We're not looking for the most polished resume. We're looking for people with proven grit, curiosity, and conviction. People who act like owners, move with urgency, and leave a trail of impact everywhere they go. If that's you, here's exactly what to expect.

what we're looking for

We hire for proof over prestige.

Owner mentality, intellectual honesty, a bias to action, and the kind of resilience that gets stronger under pressure, not more cautious.

We also ask every candidate about AI, not as a checkbox, but because it's genuinely central to how we build and operate. Over 90% of our code is written by AI. We want people who are energized by what's possible, not resistant to new technology.

Our process
01

Intro call

A short conversation with our recruiting team. We're getting to know each other: your background, what you're motivated by, and whether there's a genuine fit worth exploring. We'll also give you a real picture of what life at Engine looks like, the good and the demanding.
02

Hiring manager interview

A deeper conversation about how you think, how you work, and what you've actually built. We probe timelines and specifics, not to trip you up, but because we can tell the difference between someone who drove an outcome and someone who was nearby when it happened. Come ready to go deep on the decisions you've made and what you'd do differently.
03

Work trial

We share a prompt with a real business problem, designed to show us how you approach problem-solving. We don't expect perfect context, we're looking to see how you apply logic and creativity to a challenge. The typical format is a short presentation, under 10 minutes, followed by Q&A.

AI use encouraged, but come ready to think on your feet and discuss your rationale. We care far more about your critical thinking and how you reason through problems than the polish of your slides.
04

Bar raiser

For all Managers roles and above, a final interview with someone outside your direct team. Their job is to hold the line on our talent bar, not to assess technical skills, but to ask: does this person raise the average? Do they have the grit, curiosity, and range to grow with Engine and push those around them to do the same?
What to know before you apply
